Definitive Passive Mastering EQ The second-generation PASSEQ 2-channel mastering equalizer is the final refinement of SPL’s renowned passive EQ technology. The first-generation PASSEQ was one of the most powerful passive EQs ever created, with high, mid, and low bands with distinct boost and cut controls per band, each separately adjustable at 12 frequencies. With 36 boost and 36 cut frequencies, there are over three million potential frequency curves! Today’s PASSEQ is even more amazing, with several strong new enhancements and capabilities demanded by professional mastering engineers. Passive power The SPL PASSEQ is a new amplifier with enhanced boost and cut frequencies, modifying individual frequency options and optimizing the Q-factor for each frequency. It features an air band, a stepped output control, and a mid-cut band starting at 200Hz. SPL replaced filters’ capacitor arrays with custom-designed single caps, bandwidth-optimized for each frequency range. The PASSEQ is a formidable tool for professional mastering facilities, known for its precision build quality and sound-shaping abilities. Advantages of 120V Rail Technology SPL’s 120V Rail Technology allows the PASSEQ to operate at 120 volts, which is twice that of discrete op-amps and four times that of semiconductor operational amplifiers, resulting in higher technical and sonic performance. On the technical side, 120V Rail Technology optimizes headroom and dynamic range, which translates acoustically into the effortless resolution of tiny details and an overall confident, comfortable portrayal of program material. Music sounds entirely natural, and listener fatigue is significantly decreased. Gain The maximum increase or attenuation of the amplitude is adjusted to the frequency range for each frequency band. The setting can be selected with detented potentiometers in 41 steps.
