The Next-Gen Main Monitors from JBL JBL’s M2 Master Reference Monitor System enables you to effortlessly add genuine main monitoring into your studio. When it comes to hearing what you’re doing, nothing beats high-performance primary monitors. As small- and medium-sized rooms become more significant in content production, a speaker system with a compact footprint must provide precision and a wide dynamic range. The M2, a 2-way floor-standing or soffit-mount speaker system, provides unparalleled performance and an unforgettable listening experience. Contact your Sales Engineer to find out what JBL’s M2 can accomplish for you. Maximum precision and dynamic range in small to medium-sized settings. We work in a mobile environment where purpose-built control rooms are becoming more uncommon, yet when maximum precision and dynamic range are required in a small to medium-sized room, yesterday’s monitor designs simply do not suffice. Enter M2. JBL’s design engineers reimagined the “main monitor” for today’s music, film, and broadcast content production facilities with their M2 Master Reference Monitor System. They developed new high-output, ultra-low distortion transducers and incorporated them into a system that provides a startling 20Hz to 40kHz frequency response and a breathtaking 123dB maximum SPL — all in a trim cabinet that can be floor-standing or soffit-mounted. The optimal high-frequency driver for crucial monitoring. World-class system performance needs top-tier components. To meet their cutting-edge design goals, JBL’s M2 design engineers used new, patented JBL innovations in the D2 Dual Driver, a revolutionary device that provides radically enhanced performance with prolonged high frequency, vanishingly low distortion, and incredibly high output. The D2’s output is connected to JBL’s Image Control Waveguide, which improves image and sound staging, delivering astonishing high-frequency detail and natural balance from practically any listening position in a variety of acoustic situations. Big monitor bass response, refined The JBL M2 Master Reference Monitor System is a powerful tool for capturing low-frequency frequencies in professional studios. Its 2216Nd 15-inch low-frequency speaker is designed with five unique JBL technologies to extend the bass to the audible range and deliver high output without power compression. The 2216Nd features twin neodymium magnets and two voice coils, with specific wire used in the voice coils to ensure maximum performance. This unique approach allows for a deeper bass sound, reminiscent of a well-recorded kick drum and a monster synth bass. The system’s unique design allows for high output without power compression, ensuring optimal low-frequency performance. The JBL LSR Linear Spatial Reference design Instead of some manufacturers’ spectral smoothing, which conceals data, JBL’s Linear Spatial Reference (LSR) goes beyond simple on-axis frequency response measurements, exposing flaws in speaker systems such as resonances, insufficient dispersion, and other causes of off-axis coloration. LSR allows JBL to set the ultimate performance requirement for a new system: how it will sound in your space. M2 enclosure for extended bass with a compact footprint. JBL’s M2 enclosure is constructed of strong 1-inch MDF and is heavily reinforced to provide perfect stability at the system’s maximum rated output. The enclosure has JBL’s unique Slipstream port design with internal flares, which provides low-frequency efficiency while avoiding port turbulence noise. The stylish M2 cabinet takes up minimal space in your studio and can be moved to other working situations as required. JBL has written the book on studio monitors. In the history of studio monitors, the name James B. Lansing is prominent. Lansing laid the framework for the Altec Lansing 604 coaxial monitor in the mid-1940s, which became the industry standard in recording studios throughout the United States in the 1950s and 1960s. James left the firm he co-founded in 1946 to start JBL, which in the late 1960s released the 4320, a primary monitor built in partnership with Capitol Records in Hollywood. The 4320 and 4310 (the first “nearfield” monitor) propelled JBL to the top of studio monitor technology, where they have stayed to this day.
