Dave Smith’s Synth Legend’s Ultimate Prophet-10 Dave Smith has redesigned the Prophet-10 Rev4, a powerful 10-voice polyphonic synthesizer that incorporates features from all Prophet-10 models. It inherits the Rev3’s ultra-stable voltage-controlled oscillators and offers the option of using the Rossum-designed filter or the Curtis-designed filter. The Prophet-10 Rev4 features a unique antique knob that allows users to choose behavior features from previous editions. The synth comes pre-loaded with factory presets and 200 user slots for storing creative patches. The Prophet-10 is a drool-worthy synth for analog enthusiasts. Rock-solid oscillators The Prophet-10 is powered by two Curtis analogue CEM 3340 VCOs. The CEM 3340 VCOs, which are used in Rev3 Prophet-10s, are rock stable with almost little tuning drift. Their incorporation into the Rev3 was a watershed moment in the Prophet-10’s design, significantly improving the synth’s performance and sound quality. The Prophet-10 Rev4 includes simultaneous selectable waveshapes — sawtooth and pulse on oscillator A and sawtooth, pulse, and triangle on oscillator B — as well as pulse width modulation and hard sync for sculpting the oscillators’ timbres. The CEM 3340 VCOs provide the appropriate foundation for constructing harmonically rich analog patches. Lush, dreamy analogue filters. Dave and the Sequential team went above and above with the Prophet-10’s filter section. Users may choose between two accurate recreations of vintage four-pole resonant lowpass filters: the Dave Rossum-designed 2140 (a contemporary upgrade of the original 2040 featured on the Rev1 and Rev2) and the Doug Curtis-designed CEM 3320. The 2140 is ideal for gritty bass lines and rich, sweeping pads, and the 3320 excels at dialing in razor-sharp high-end for cutting lead lines. Both filters may be pushed into maddening self-oscillation, and a dedicated 4-stage ADSR filter envelope provides extensive control over the filters’ behavior. Mountains of modulation. The Prophet-10 is a versatile synthesizer that offers modulation controls for creating vintage-style basses, leads, pads, brass, and strings, as well as soundscapes and effects. Its single LFO supports three waveforms and initial quantity control and can be used for pitch modulation and PWM on oscillators A and B. The Poly-Mod section allows for modification of oscillator A’s frequency, pulse width, and filter cutoff using the filter envelope and oscillator B as mod sources. Deluxe performance controls One of the most enticing parts of analog synthesizers is the tactile feel of engaging with its knobs, switches, sliders, and wheels, of which the Prophet-10 has many! With a knob-per-function architecture, the Prophet-10 gives you precise control over every parameter, allowing you to transform patches into real, breathing performances. Additionally, the Prophet-10 has inputs for loudness, filter cutoff, and sustain. Turn up the retro atmosphere. While influenced by the classic Prophet-10s, this newest generation has contemporary dependability and high-fidelity sound. But what if you want to add a touch of old-school instability to your sound? Not a problem! The Prophet-10 has a useful Vintage control knob that allows you to change the behavior according to its version model. Keep it clean, or go back in time to the uncommon and unstable Rev1. Do you believe the unpredictable nature of antique analog synthesizers adds to their appeal? Then you will like this function! Sequential Prophet-10 Module’s Features: The knob-per-function design promotes expressive performance. Configurable voice count allows for thick monophonic tones in unison mode. Polyphonic glide. Includes 200 user and 200 factory patch memory slots. USB MIDI and 5-pin MIDI input/output/thru. Includes volume, filter cutoff, and sustain pedal inputs. Mono and stereo headphone outputs.
