It all came together when Michael Zahl, a former engineer and creator of the primary custom-made mixing console at the famed Conny’s Studio, and Mark Ernestus, a long-time producer known for projects such as Basic Channel and Rhythm & Sound, had a chance meeting. This resulted in the joint creation of AM1, a cutting-edge pure analog mixing console. Given the positive reaction to the AM1 mixing console from well-known customers such as Ricardo Villalobos and Tobi Neumann, the EQ1 Stereo Equaliser was the logical next step. The iconic Zähl EQ is now available in API 500 format. TWIN CONTEST HI with BELL/SHELF and MID with completely parametric BELL have the same quality standard, but vary in circuit technology and sound character. For maximum adaptability, the MID frequency range may be switched to the HI range, and the HI frequency is applicable in the HI MID band. Similar to LO and LO MID. SINGLE-BAND SWITCHING Individual on/off switching Directly compare each band ON/OFF while keeping the GAIN pot in place. Switch off unneeded bands to reduce noise and preserve signal integrity. FOR SENSITIVE USE. Global EQ GAIN settings: 5dB or 15dB Enhance resolution. Easier to restore GAIN settings. Direct comparison of various GAIN settings. OPERATION The I/O stage Disconnecting I/Os and enabling full hard bypass (relais). The gain stage may be switched between input and output, maximizing headroom and minimizing noise. Gain range: /- 15 dB or /- 5 dB with trimmed zero gain at mid position. SIGNAL LED (green) level is present. O/L LED (red) overload warning with 10 checkpoints across the signal chain. HI EQ The gain range is /- 15 dB or /- 5 dB, with a bypass in the middle position (potentiometer center sense logic). separate ON/OFF switch. frequency: 2 kHz to 20 kHz. The switchable BELL/SHELF feature allows for effective treatment or delicate adjustment with a gentle slope and ‘airy’ character. HI-MID EQ The gain range is /- 15 dB or /-5 dB, with a bypass in the middle position (potentiometer center sense logic). separate ON/OFF switch. Frequency: 600 Hz to 6 kHz Frequency range adjustable from 1.8 kHz to 18 kHz (x3) Adjustable Q-factor LO MID EQ. The gain range is /- 15 dB or /- 5 dB, with a bypass in the middle position (potentiometer center sense logic). separate ON/OFF switch. Frequency: 200 Hz to 2 kHz Frequency range switchable from 40 to 400 Hz (/5) Adjustable Q-factor LO EQ The gain range is /- 15 dB or /-5 dB, with a bypass in the middle position (potentiometer center sense logic). separate ON/OFF switch. frequency: 30 Hz to 300 Hz. Switchable BELL/SHELF characteristic with little sub-frequency roll-off on high-gain shelves. LO CUTS frequency adjusted from 25 to 250 Hz. separate ON/OFF switch. Stereo design for mix and mastering, including voices and instruments. Highly musical design. straightforward, user-friendly, and self-explanatory layout High-quality components provide minimal noise and distortion in signal pathways. For audio switching, set the EQ gain potentiometer to zero to skip unwanted stages.
