Avantone Pro MixCube Pair Cream Overview. The black Avantone Active MixCube Powered Full-spectrum Mini Reference Monitor is a professional studio reference monitor that produces a useful musical spectrum ranging from 90 Hz to 17 kHz. In today’s age of high-definition media, it is still critical to mix music that translates and sounds excellent on both low-fidelity speakers like laptops and cellphones and hi-fi, full-range HD audio systems. The Active MixCube provides audio engineers with precise and comprehensive mid-frequency reference, whilst larger 2-way and 3-way monitoring systems are designed for bass and high-frequency referencing. The Active MixCube has a powerful and accurate 60W (RMS) amplifier and a 5.25″ speaker encased in a sleek MDF cabinet with a black finish. The input connection is an XLR combination with XLR and 1/4″ TRS phone inputs that can accept balanced and unbalanced signals. There is a variable gain control dial and an on/off switch. The speaker has an external power supply with a 10′ AC cable and an additional 10′ cloth multipin wire that connects it to the speaker. The Active MixCube’s small size makes it easy to place in any studio setting, and Avantone supplied a 5/8″-27 threaded microphone stand that fits into the speaker’s base. Mid-Referencing Studios often employ 2- and 3-way larger monitors that provide a wide range of reference perspectives at higher listening levels. However, in this new age of high-definition audio, there is still a need to hear how your mix will sound when played back on tiny bass-challenged systems such as televisions, clock radios, laptops, vehicle stereos, iPod docking stations, and so on. It is critical to base mixing decisions partially on listening to reference monitors that do not transmit tone aberrations produced by crossovers or poorer full-range speakers. Listening tests show that the MixCube has a smoother, more open, transparent top-end response with expanded bass while preserving its core original character. Combo XLR Input. The combo XLR/TRS input supports a balanced male XLR connector, a 3-conductor balanced TRS 1/4″, or a 2-conductor, unbalanced, TS 1/4″ male plug. In an imbalanced operation with a TS connection, the negative signal is automatically grounded. System gain The variable control modulates the sensitivity of the signal received at the input. Rotating the control clockwise improves sensitivity, whereas rotating it counterclockwise reduces sensitivity. The adjustable gain range is -30 to 6 decibels. A setting of 6 permits a full, unhindered signal to be sent to the amplifier. AC Input This input is only for use with Avantone’s unique power supply. Tighten the cable/connector tightly to ensure proper operation. The power supply has a switch that allows you to pick the appropriate AC/mains operating voltage for your area. Ground Lift Switch This switch lifts the pin-1 shield at the input jack. This can be utilized for ground loop control of the incoming analog line signal. Flexible placement The bottom mic stand mounts provide for creative placement choices in odd studio playback circumstances. Avantone MixCube Monitor Features:  5.25″ shielded active full-range monitor.  High-gloss lacquer finish on 6.5″ cube cabinet.  MDF cabinet sides and baffles are precision-milled for maximum stiffness and low resonance.  Radiused corners and edges minimize diffraction for improved imaging.  The custom paper cone is made from New Zealand pulp and reinforced with mica fibers for lightweightness and stiffness.  Durable die-cast aluminum frame with polished mounting bezel.  A .25″ soft neoprene cushion is sunk into the cabinet base to provide non-skid acoustic isolation.  The cabinet base features a standard female mic stand mount with 5/8″-27 threading.  Frequency response: 90 Hz–17 kHz.  Impedance: Nominal 8 Ohms.  Maximum SPL is 104 dB at 1 meter and 1% THD (PINK NOISE).  Internal MOSFET Class A/B amplifier.  Amp power is 60 watts RMS at.005% THD (1KHz).  Inputs: XLR & TRS (combo jack) 4 balanced, -10 unbalanced.  Cabinet measurements are 6.5″ x 6.5″ x 6.5″.
