SPL Reducer Passive Power Soak For Guitar & Bass Amplifiers

$55.46 $94.28
Less volume, all tone The SPL Reducer does exactly what its name implies: it reduces the power output of your guitar or bass amp while retaining the amazing tone you so carefully constructed. This means you may overdrive any type of amp, particularly a tube amp, without bothering the neighbors, bludgeoning your bandmates, or overloading the monitors onstage. The Reducer, like the other SPL power soakers, Transducers, and Cabulator, was created in collaboration with Tonehunter amp experts in Cologne, Germany. If you like your tone but are too loud, recommends using the SPL Reducer. How Reducer Works Place the SPL Reducer between your amp head and the speaker cabinet. It transforms the amp’s electrical power into heat, which it dissipates. Reducer is passive, meaning it uses resistors to reduce volume, therefore it does not require an external power supply. Passive power reduction ensures correct sound reproduction without changing the frequency response curve, preserving your tone flawlessly – but at a lesser volume. It allows you to alter the amp output impedance to 4, 8, or 16 Ohms. The early stages of decrease are stepped, however it may then be changed constantly after that. SPL Reducer An SPL reducer is typically designed to lower the output volume of an amplifier without altering its tone. This can be particularly useful for achieving cranked-up tube amp sounds at lower volumes, allowing for recording or practicing without excessive noise. Passive Power Soak A passive power soak functions similarly, absorbing excess power from the amplifier and allowing it to be driven harder while reducing the output to the speakers. This enables the user to achieve desirable distortion and tonal qualities at lower volume levels. Key Features Impedance Matching: Ensures the soak matches the amp’s output for safe operation. Construction: Often built with high-quality components to handle power without degrading tone. Simplicity: Many passive designs don’t require power, making them easy to use.
