Antelope Discrete 8 Oryx Overview A Studio Centerpiece The Antelope Discrete 8 Oryx is a 26×38 USB-C audio interface with eight separate XLR-1/4″ combination mic/line inputs and up to 130 dB of amplification. With a vast array of I/O for connecting practically any device, flawless conversion and timing, and Synergy Core FX on board, this interface can fit a whole studio in 1 RU. The Discrete Oryx 8 uses 64-bit AFC to distribute clocking to up to three separate word clock BNC outputs. The virtual patchbay enables you to do comprehensive routing tasks, making it simple to design complicated routings using the interface’s broad connectivity, including hybrid workflows with simultaneous analog and digital connections. Experience each mix with clarity. The Discrete 8 Oryx is powered by cutting-edge AD/DA converters with up to 130 dB of headroom and fourth-generation 64-bit AFC clocking. Together, they provide a greater stereo image, depth, and detail that considerably exceed the specifications of the individual converter chips. Careful implementation and decades of clocking knowledge result in a sound that shines out in both recording and playback, making it popular among audio professionals all over the world. Each Channel of Pristine Audio The Discrete 8 Oryx has eight discrete Class-A microphone preamps, each built with six transistors and inspired by the circuitry of great recording consoles. The end result is outstanding clarity, depth, and an extremely low noise floor, as well as an increased 75 dB of gain to suit even the most demanding microphones. All eight inputs are DC-coupled and support both XLR and line-level TS/TRS connections, and the two front-panel inputs may be set to Hi-Z for direct instrument recording. Talkback and Footswitch Input To converse directly through your monitor and headphone outputs, use one of the eight mic inputs or the built-in front-panel talkback microphone. The footswitch input accepts either a single footswitch (1/4″ TS jack) to operate the dim function or a dual footswitch to manage both the talkback and dim controls. Ultimate control at your fingertips. A revamped software control panel offers efficiency and flexibility at your fingertips, with a clean, user-friendly style that adjusts to your workflow. Learn about rapid drag-and-drop routing, simultaneous operation of all digital and analog ports, and direct low-latency monitoring with onboard effects. This software version dramatically improves functionality and enhances creative control on the Discrete 8 Oryx. Perfect monitoring for all. With four independent stereo headphone outputs and quality DACs, you can maximize your session flow and artist comfort while monitoring is crisp and powerful. Using Oryx’s sophisticated routing and four low-latency virtual mixers, you can create a fully unique mix for each artist, offering individualized cue mixes customized to their specific requirements. Enhance these tailored monitor mixes with zero-latency real-time FX from the powerful Synergy Core platform, resulting in a flawless, completed sound that significantly improves performance and gets the best take. A New Headphone Experience. X-Feed is a precision-engineered headphone crossfeed device that replicates the spatial behavior of loudspeakers in a stereo listening environment. As a result, the soundstage becomes more unified, and the listening experience is more similar to speaker monitoring. Furthermore, the headphone calibration option ensures accuracy by allowing you to choose from built-in profiles of the most common headphone types, resulting in balanced and accurate monitoring sound. Finally, a straightforward two-band EQ allows you to effortlessly tailor the sound to your preferences. X-feed is specifically developed to work in tandem with Discrete 8 Oryx’s four high-quality headphone outputs. Shape Your Sound without Latency. The onboard Synergy Core platform, powered by two DSP chips and one FPGA chip, allows you to perform a selection of world-class analog-modeled effects—from compressors and EQs to amps and reverbs—in real time with no detectable delay. This function is ideal for providing vocalists with polished monitoring chains that include reverb or for offloading CPU-intensive processing during recorded and live performances. There are 37 real-time FX included, with additional options available via the Antelope Software Store. Load FX into up to sixteen channel strips and handle any signal source, including analog and digital I/O. This interface is equipped for mic modeling, with a vast library of all-time favorites employing Edge-series microphones. Connect Everything. The Discrete 8 Oryx, with 26×38 simultaneous connections, has 8 preamps, 8 DC-coupled line outs, ADAT, S/PDIF, reamp outs, monitor outs, and 4 headphone outs, making it the centerpiece of any studio. The intuitive virtual patch bay simplifies complex routing, allowing you to use every analog and digital channel simultaneously for full hybrid flexibility.  Two front-panel XLR-1/4″ combination DC-coupled inputs with switchable mic, line, and Hi-Z modes.  Six rear-panel XLR-1/4″ DC-coupled mic/line inputs.  8-channel DB-25 DC-coupled line outputs.  Stereo 1/4″ TRS reamp with monitor outputs.  The system has 16 ADAT optical I/O channels and 2 RCA coaxial S/PDIF I/O channels.  Four stereo headphone outputs with independent gain settings.  The USB-C 2.0 host connection supports up to 24 channels at 24-bit/192 kHz.  BNC word clock input with three outputs.  Footswitch input: 1/4″  Locking the DC power input. Antelope Discrete 8 Oryx Synergy Core Features:  Offers industry-leading AD/DA conversion with up to 130 dB of headroom.  Recording, mixing, and playing at up to 24-bit/192 kHz.  The exclusive 64-bit AFC™ (Acoustically Focused Clocking) technology and Jitter Management algorithm provide improved sound breadth, separation, and detail.  8 discrete 6-transistor preamps with 75 dB gain for clear recordings. All work as a microphone/line, and two are also “Hi.”  Z inputs on combo XLR jacks with 48V phantom power supply.  8 DC-coupled line outputs via D-Sub 25 and 8 DC-coupled line inputs.  Two reamp outputs on TRS ¼ jacks allow for further guitar signal processing. They may also be utilized as an additional stereo monitor output, allowing two pairs of monitor speakers to play simultaneously.  Custom USB 2.0 Type-C drivers for macOS and Windows.  Digitally extendable via ADAT I/O with 16 channels.  Digitally extensible via S/PDIF I/O, with two channels available.  The Discrete 8 Oryx interface features three word clock outputs and a word clock input for synchronizing with other devices.  The footswitch input may operate the dim function as a single switch (on a 1/4″ TS jack) or both the talkback and dim functions as a dual switch.  Four stereo headphone outputs with individual gain control.  Dedicated stereo monitor output via TRS.  Synergy Core FX enables real-time monitoring with minimal latency.  Headphone crossfeed mode with calibration mimics the stereo sound stage of monitor speakers.  Customizable presets for signal routing, level changes, mixing, and effects.  Monitoring mixes may be customized by adjusting volume, pan, and reverb.  Convenient front-panel talkback with microphone.  The front panel features a color display and navigation buttons for direct management of essential settings. Each preamp has hardware relay-based gain knobs, as well as push-button mode control (mic/line/Hi-Z). Standalone mode allows for functioning without a PC.  Control software features remotely from another computer on the same network.  A collection of 37 Synergy Core effects inspired by vintage and unusual analog outboard gear.  The patented onboard platform, Synergy Core, uses 2 × DSP and 1 × FPGA chips to provide real-time effects processing with minimal latency.  The Modeling Engine pairs with the Edge family of microphones for real-time antique microphone simulation.
