Neve 1073DPA 2-channel Microphone Preamp

$64.72 $100.96
Authentic Neve 2-channel 1073 preamp for the Modern Studio. The Neve 1073 channel amplifier, coveted by renowned engineers and producers since its release in 1970, is the Holy Grail of characterful microphone preamplification. The 1073 mic/line input module established the punchy, authoritative sound of the iconic Neve 80-series consoles, which dominated professional recording studios during the Golden Age of Analogue. The AMS Neve 1073DPA 2-channel Mic/Line Preamp rackmount device now allows you to recreate this famous sound in your studio. 1073, which is hardwired according to the original vintage design and upgraded to fit the needs of current workflows, provides you with a broad tone palette for generating ambitious musical statements. The iconic, authoritative “big iron” sound Since the 1970s, the Neve 1073 has been a popular mic preamp and equalizer due to its unique sound and adaptability. With an impressive 80dB gain, it can handle even the lowest-output passive ribbon microphones on silent sources. AMS Neve, an R&D-driven firm, continues to improve its classic designs to meet the performance needs of hybrid analog-digital workloads. Rupert Neve is associated with bespoke transformer-balanced Class A circuitry, and AMS Neve continues to pioneer in this field with their cutting-edge Neve Marinair standard transformers. These transformers provide broad, linear bandwidth while preserving audiophile quality, resulting in a rich, full-bodied sound with strong lows, forceful middle presence, and beautiful, airy highs. Military-grade build quality. The 1073DPA 2-channel Mic/Line Preamp, adorned in traditional RAF blue-gray colors, offers a distinctive user experience with its solid build quality, including rotary switches, sturdy metalwork, and internal handwiring. Its user-friendly feel is reminiscent of vintage Neve equipment, made with mil-spec components and materials. This sonic quality is why half-century-old Neve consoles are still found in major studios worldwide. AMS Neve continues to build professional audio equipment like this, showcasing the legacy of vintage Neve technology. A brief overview of the 1073DPA 2-channel Mic/Line Preamp:  Line/mic level control with 80dB boost on tap.  The hi-/lo-Z switch adjusts the impedance of the transformer-coupled input stage between 1200Ω (hi-Z) and 300Ω.  The 48V button provides 48V phantom power to the XLR microphone inputs.  Phase button for reverse polarity (180° phase) and pre-line output.  Trim control ( /-10dB) for transformer-balanced Class A output stage.  The peak LED shines 3-4dB below clipping. The legend continues At the name, Neve commands respect. Rupert Neve began inventing audio equipment during the tube console period but gained his name with solid-state systems. Setting up business in Little Shelford in the 1960s, Mr. Neve encountered several challenges in developing his brand within a changing technical world. Transistors were new, costly, and difficult to procure in large quantities in the UK. Reliable faders did not exist at the time, which is in stark contrast to today’s environment, when components are inexpensive and widely accessible from various vendors vying for bids. Nevertheless, Rupert persevered. By the early 1970s, the Neve firm was thriving, accepting orders and manufacturing bespoke transformer-balanced consoles for recording and broadcast facilities all over the globe. The Neve 80-series consoles produced a massive, powerful, and authoritative sound that characterized the sound of 1970s rock. From London to New York to Los Angeles and beyond, leading studios were adding Neve workstations as quickly as possible. By 1978, with the release of the magnificent 8078 — the apex of hand-wired analog “production” consoles — and the NECAM automation system, Neve boards had become a critical component of any recording studio’s success formula. In the decades following, AMS Neve has pioneered new products such as the VR, VX, and 88R series consoles. Today, the firm continues to push the envelope with cutting-edge pro audio gear that sounds fantastic while intelligently addressing the difficulties of the digital era. AMS Neve 1073DPA 2-channel Mic/Line Preamplifier Specifications:  A 1U rackmount chassis houses classic Neve preamplification with two channels.  Neve transformer-balanced Class A microphone/line preamp.  48V phantom power and reverse polarity switch.
