Put the Sound Quality of the Legendary Neve Console in Your Rack The AMS Neve 8801 Channel Strip is the identical channel strip found in the world-renowned Neve 88RS console, but in a 1U rackmount form that will provide legendary quality to your recordings. Neve created and hardwired the 8801 Channel Strip, which combines bright microphone preamplification, extremely melodic 4-band equalization, and very versatile compression and gating. Best of all, the AMS Neve 8801 Channel Strip’s various connection and routing choices allow it to shape input sources for both recording and processing tracks during mixdown. One rack space with Neve console sound If you’ve ever worked with a Neve console, you’ll understand why they’re so popular among professional audio engineers. Strong, rich bottom tone. Detailed midrange captures every element of your audio source. Silky-smooth highs lift your mix without sounding harsh. Neve consoles established the bar for world-class sound quality, and the AMS Neve 8801 Channel Strip brings that famous sound into your studio rack. This is a studio workhorse because of its flexible routing. The AMS Neve 8801 Channel Strip provides maximum versatility during recording and mixdown by allowing you to flexibly tune its dynamics, EQ, and insert signal routing. Simply hit the Audio Router button, followed by the Dynamics, EQ, and Insert buttons in the desired sequence. Engineers and producers like the ability to apply the equalizer to the sidechain signal (removing it from the main signal route), which is ideal for fine-tuning how the dynamics section reacts to bass-heavy inputs. Use a USB connection to ensure that all settings are precisely remembered. The AMS Neve 8801 Channel Strip has a USB connector on the back panel, allowing you to save and retrieve settings by connecting to your Mac or PC. The AMS Neve Remember software allows you to store and remember all parameters and routing settings from the 8801 Channel Strip. When you recall one of your preset settings in the Recall program, the 8801 Channel Strip’s switches and LEDs are automatically reset, with no human involvement necessary. A rotary control screen will then show you precisely where to adjust the front-panel knobs to match the preset settings, and you will be notified when you have successfully reset everything. The legend goes on. The name Neve commands respect. Rupert Neve began inventing audio equipment during the tube console period but gained his name with solid-state systems. Setting up business in Little Shelford in the 1960s, Mr. Neve encountered several challenges in developing his brand within a changing technical world. Transistors were new, costly, and difficult to procure in large quantities in the UK. Reliable faders did not exist at the time, which is in stark contrast to today’s environment when components are inexpensive and widely accessible from a variety of vendors vying for bids. Nevertheless, Rupert persevered. By the early 1970s, the Neve firm was thriving, accepting orders and manufacturing bespoke transformer-balanced consoles for recording and broadcast facilities all over the globe. The Neve 80-series consoles produced a massive, powerful, and authoritative sound that characterized the sound of 1970s rock. From London to New York to Los Angeles and beyond, leading studios were adding Neve workstations as quickly as possible. By 1978, with the release of the magnificent 8078 — the apex of hand-wired analog “production” consoles — and the NECAM automation system, Neve boards had become a critical component of any recording studio’s success formula. In the decades following, AMS Neve has pioneered new products such as the VR, VX, and 88R series consoles. Today, the firm continues to push the envelope with cutting-edge pro audio gear that sounds fantastic while intelligently addressing the difficulties of the digital era. AMS Neve 8801 Channel Strip Specifications: Sidechain input via a 9-pin D-type connection enables consistent dynamics control across all daisy-chained devices. Fine-tune dynamic response by applying EQ to the sidechain input signal. Create a way to integrate external processors. Flexible routing enables you to arrange the signal flow between dynamics, insert path, and EQ. Inputs include mic (XLR), line (XLR/TRS combination), and DI (1/4-inch), with a 20dB pad for both. Utilise overload indications at each gain step to optimize signal flow. Use USB to store and recall parameter settings using the Recall program (Mac/PC). The Recall system supports simultaneous connections of up to 16 88-series modules.
