Neve 1073SPX Microphone Preamp The Neve 1073 SPX is a contemporary version of the iconic mic preamp and EQ, packaged in a 1U 19″ rack. The Neve 1073 SPX is developed and produced in England to exact specifications using matching components, including special Neve Marinair input and output transformers, to provide the real Neve 1073 sound. It also has the 1073 Classic console module’s traditional 3-band EQ and high-pass filter. Furthermore, Neve has included new features such as DI input, configurable insert point, level meters, and output level control. Mic/Line level inputs are located at the front or rear of the machine, allowing for simple integration and use throughout the mixing stage. A mastering-grade digital card is also available, which allows you to interact with your digital recording system. The Neve 1073 SPX recreates the warmth and depth of the traditional 1073 while also capturing the spirit of the Neve sound, including subtle detail, ambiance, and accurate imaging. A quick overview of the 1073SPX preamp and EQ:  The FRONT button toggles the audio input to the front mic/line combination connection. The DI input always takes precedence over the Mic input, regardless of the FRONT switch status.  Use the XLR/Jack combination input for microphones and the 6.35mm jack input for line-level sources.  The 48V button activates 48V phantom power for the front and rear XLR mic inputs, with neighboring LED lights indicating its status.  The microphone input impedance defaults to 1200Ω when using the Lo Z button. Pressing the Lo Z switch reconfigures the input for 300Ω impedance.  The LIFT button provides a ground lift for the DI input, which can reduce hum/buzz by breaking any ground loops.  The -20 button attenuates the DI input by 20dB and changes the input impedance from around 1MΩ to around 10kΩ.  The DI I/P button provides a high-impedance balanced input for direct injection. The microphone inputs are immediately disengaged when the jack is inserted.  Line/mic level control with 80dB boost on tap.  Smooth /-16dB fixed-frequency shelving up to 12 kHz.  Mid Frequency: Smooth /-18dB peaking, fixed Q, and configurable Centre frequencies are 0.36kHz, 0.7kHz, 1.6kHz, 3.2kHz, 4.8kHz, and 7.2kHz.  Smooth /-16dB shelving at 35Hz, 60Hz, 110Hz, and 220Hz.  Highpass Filter with 18dB/octave slope, adjustable to 50Hz, 80Hz, 160Hz, and 300Hz.  Phase button for reversal polarity (180° phase) at balanced output.  The EQ button activates or deactivates the equalizer circuit.  The INS button activates the insert loop in the signal path.  The PRE button repositions the post-EQ insert loop to pre-EQ.  The LEVEL control adjusts the output level. Short-pressing the knob cycles the level meter take-off point through three places in the signal route (pre-EQ, post-EQ, post-output stage), as indicated by neighboring LEDs.  Take-off LEDs and Clip Indication: One of the three LEDs flashes green to signify the selected take-off position, while the other two light red if the take-off point is nearing clipping.  The Level Meter is a 7-segment peak level meter that can monitor audio levels up to 24dB in one of three locations: mic/line/DI input stage, EQ stage, or output stage.  Sample rate indicator. The LED displays the desired sample rate; possibilities are cycled through by long-pressing the LEVEL knob and selected by releasing it.  The clock source indication LED displays the selected clock source. To cycle among choices, long-press the LEVEL knob after selecting the sample rate.  The POWER button turns on or off the unit and illuminates the nearby LED lights. AMS Neve 1073SPX Mic/Line/DI Preamp and EQ Features:  Front-panel connectors for mic, line, and DI inputs, with switchable mic/line inputs on the back panel.  The input stage has switchable 48V phantom power, Hi/Lo impedance, 20dB pad, and DI ground lift.  Insert send and return loop with switchable post- or pre-EQ.  The 7-segment LED signal level meters for each channel may display the mic/line/DI input stage, EQ stage, or output stage level.  Controlling output levels.  For microphone input, adjust the gain from 80dB to 20dB in 5dB increments.  Line input has a 10k bridging impedance and a gain range of 20dB to -10dB in 5dB increments.  The line inputs are transformer-balanced and earth-free.  DI input impedance: 1mΩ (pad out), 10kΩ (pad in); gain range: 80dB to 20dB in 5dB increments.  Transformer balanced output with a maximum output of more than 26 dBu into 600Ω.  Distortion: <0.07% between 50Hz-10kHz at 20dBu output (80kHz bandwidth) into 600Ω.  Frequency response: ±0.5dB from 20Hz to 20kHz, -3dB at 40kHz (EQ out).  External multi-voltage PSU.  Designed and built in England by AMS Neve engineers.
